How changes are labeled

A correction note identifies the material error and the corrected information. A clarification identifies wording changed to prevent misunderstanding without altering the underlying finding. A data update identifies the new source release or observation period and states whether the central finding changed. Inconsequential spelling, punctuation, or formatting fixes may be made without a note.

Revised data

When a source agency revises data, the article keeps the relevant retrieval and source-vintage context. A substantive update states the new source, date, and effect on the reported finding.
